"My lifestyle drastically changed last fall when my back and legs started to feel severe pain. I went through a lot of tests and found out I had spinal degenerative disc disease. This spinal disease restricted me to my home.

"Hello, My name is Mary and this is my story.

Back in the mid 1980's, my back went out due to a pinched nerve in my lower back. I could not move my left leg without agonizing pain.

At that time, my medical doctor had me on bed rest for 3 months and informed me if the pain did not go away in those 3 months, I would require back surgery. My sister-in-law at the time said that her mother was seeing an anesthesiologist for her back pain. I made an appointment with him and he could make the pain go away temporarily, but the problem would remain.

I have been suffering with the back pain on and off for years, and had been seeing other chiropractors until Mothers day 2008 when my back went out again. The pain has progressively gotten worse.

My husband had been in an auto accident about a month prior to my back going out. The acupuncturist he was seeing could not align his back and recommended him to the office of chiropractor Dr Scott DeMent. My husband then took me to see Dr DeMent to see if I could be helped. "I'm, Steve Meyers, I'm almost 70 years old, and this is my success story. When I was around 18 years old I was working for a plumbing company and injured my back lifting pipes.

I went to the local chiropractor who helped, but my back was still in a weakened state. I had to be careful when lifting and working so that I did not re-injure my back. As long as I stayed with the chiropractic care I was able to work.

A few years passed and I was in a significant car accident. My injuries included a herniated disc in my lower back. I went through Physical therapy and traction which did not help. The doctor recommended surgery to remove the disc and fuse my spine. I refused the surgery. Considering how bad the outcome of surgery is today I am glad that I did not get the surgery 45 years ago.

Since my injuries occurred, I have seen close to 40 different chiropractors to keep myself mobile. The problem was my condition continued to get worse over time. I happened to meet Dr. Scott DeMent about 5 years ago when he took over the practice that I was a patient of. I have to say that he has helped me more than the past 40 chiropractors I had seen. You have to understand that I would come in limping and in severe pain but would leave in mild to moderate pain, still limping, which was an improvement. Doing simple things like hooking up my 5th wheel to my truck would almost cause me to be bed ridden. I was in constant pain throughout the whole day. Rarely would I have a pain free day or morning.

"When I came into DeMent Family Chiropractic I suffered from a nerve problem in the back of my right shoulder. 28 YEARS OF BACK PAIN GONE! "My name is Kalani Kanae. I injured myself on a job back in 1981 and I have had trouble with it since then. The pain was constant. That's 28 years! The pain was so bad that I had trouble getting out of bed, my legs would give out on me and I could not stand straight, always leaning to the right.

I went to the medical doctor and they did several tests poking needles into my back and giving me shocks. They said that I had a disc problem and recommended surgery. "I have been under the care of Dr. Scott DeMent for the past nine months. I immediately liked him but, nonetheless, was terrified of Chiropractors. I had been in chronic pain for over nine years following a car accident. I shattered my hip, pelvic area, and severed several nerves. I endured seven major surgeries, all, in under six years. I've had to walk with a crutch/cane for nine years because the pain became so intense that my leg would involuntarily collapse without warning. I also suffered from migraines three to five times a week, and had severe back and neck pain due to terrible misalignment. I was spending more time in my wheelchair than ever before. "I started seeing Dr. Scott DeMent two and a half years ago for weakness in my right arm. After x-rays it was determined that my C6, C7 and T1 vertebrae were misaligned. Dr. Scott stated that it would take years to keep my neck aligned right and monthly adjustments. I didn't take his advice and only went to him until my pain went away. Big mistake.
